Jean Ray est le projet musical de l'artiste multidisciplinaire Romain Arnette, formé en 2009 à Londres.

L’expérimentation se situe au coeur de son processus de création. À partir d'enregistrements acoustiques et différentes sources sonores numériques, il crée des compositions minimalistes qui s'apparentent à des collages sonores. Il utilise une variété d’outils tels que des logiciels de synthèse sonore, différents instruments acoustiques, des micros modifiés ou encore des supports magnétiques.

La superposition de ces sons acoustiques et électroniques forme une musique proche de l'hypnose où les structures répétitives s'accompagnent de rythmes sombres et chaotiques. Il invite l’audience à un moment d’introspection, proposant un mystère sonore.

Il a collaboré avec différents artistes sonores et visuels tels que Wolfgang Natlacen, Ed Anon, Théodore Lüne, Jarod, City Dragon, Arden Day, Wysozky."
